Front End Cashier/Customer Service Job at L&L Hawaiian Barbecue

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue Seattle, WA 98188

Current need: 3 cashiers for morning shift, night shift, and weekend shifts needed to fill

Your local L&L Hawaiian Barbecue is looking for qualified candidates to join our o'hana! This posting is for our Seatac location at 18613 International Blvd Ste B3, Seatac, WA 98188

We are currently seeking applicants for our Front End Cashier/Customer Service position(s) that have high levels of motivation, enthusiasm, a strong spirit of aloha (i.e. fantastic customer service!), and willingness to learn and grow.

The Front End Cashier/Customer Service role involves, but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing excellent customer service and experiences through effective communication skills, warm and welcoming charisma, friendly attitude, and quick and adaptive problem solving to meet customer requests.
  • Managing sales orders in a fast-paced environment with a high-volume of customers and transactions. Our front staff take customers' orders in-person, online through 3rd party delivery systems, via telephone, and via fax for special catering orders. They are responsible for taking and completing those orders in a timely fashion with great care to make sure every order out the door is made right.
  • Managing front of house inventory through constant inventory checks, restocking of supplies, and reordering of supplies to make sure things continue to operate without a hitch. Our front staff are the front line to alerting management when stock is low, order resupply, receive shipments, and receive invoices.
  • Maintaining and improving the restaurant's dining and front of house experience for our customers through constant cleaning and upkeep. We like to keep our stores clean and organized to keep everyone from our staff to customers safe and healthy while providing an excellent guest experience. From our restrooms to our dining and counter areas, our front staff are responsible for keeping things neat, clean, and tidy.
  • Manage financial accounting and sales reporting for cash, card, and other payment option transactions. Our front staff handle a myriad of transaction types, and when they're done with their shift they are responsible for closing out cash tills, counting cash, and filing away reports for management to reconcile.

We are seeking candidates with the following preferred skills, education, and experience:

  • Must have: reliable transportation to and from their home to our store at SeaTac for work.
  • Must have: ability to communicate effectively with verbal and written competence. You don't have to be Shakespeare, but you do need to be able to listen and comprehend orders and directions from customers and team members, be able to read and write clearly and coherently, and be able to take in information and pass it along clearly.
  • Must have: basic math competence to handle financial accounting and reporting. You will need to be able to count money, reconcile shortages/overages, and understand basic accounting principles of credits/debits. We won't ask you to do calculus, but you do need to know how to add and subtract.
  • Must have: smartphone with access to the internet and telephone service and basic understanding of how to navigate web pages. Our schedules and communications these days are all online, via text or email, or talking on the phone and we want to make sure everyone is connected to stay in touch and on top of their work schedules.
  • Must have: be able to lift objects weighing up to 35 lbs. You don't need to be an Olympic weight lifter, but we do need to be able to move boxes of supplies and orders around frequently.
  • Must have: be able to maintain a clean and well-kept personal appearance and grooming. You don't need to be a Hollywood star, but we do need to make sure you're able to keep yourself clean, odor-neutral, and presentable for our guests and health and safety practices.
  • Must have: be able to stand and keep moving on your feet for long periods of time (4+ hours). Our o'hana is always making moves to keep things operating and that means our team needs to be able to handle the physical load of standing on your feet for your shift. You don't need to be Hercules or strong as Maui, but you do need to be able to move on your feet without sitting down for your shift.
  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience working in a professional restaurant or similar industry setting where you're dealing with customers/clients of all backgrounds and attitudes (hey, not everyone wakes up on the right side of the bed!).
  • Preferred: can speak Spanish. We have customers and staff of various backgrounds and it helps when we can speak and understand one another in our preferred language.
  • Preferred: social media management experience (Facebook/Instagram). We want to share our aloha with everyone and the best way to do that these days is through social media communications. Let's do it for the 'gram and get some posts up of our o'hana, our grinds, and our specials! If you've got the knack for it, we'll consider it in your application and compensation.
  • Preferred: military veterans. You served and we want to honor that commitment to service. You know what it means to serve and have the right stuff to get the job done. We are all about that!

That's about it, but just a couple more things to note:

  • We are a drug, alcohol, and substance-abuse free work-environment. We want to keep our workplace clean and healthy for your mental and physical well-being.
  • We are an equal opportunity employer. We believe in the spirit of aloha for all without prejudice or discrimination against anyone's race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, height, weight, physical or mental ability, veteran status, military obligations, and marital status.
