Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School seeks talented educators to serve as Paraprofessionals for grades K-4. Paraprofessionals will work under a teachers direct supervision to give students additional instruction and support. We are looking for culturally competent candidates that possess experience working as educators in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with IEPs. A decisive educator who can make difficult decisions taking into consideration the needs of students and the school community.Persistence in the face of obstacles, productive problem-solving to counter setbacks, and takes initiative to seize opportunities to make a change.Skilled at reflecting on how to improve, self-awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses, and willingness to take responsibility for actions and mistakes.ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to the following: Partner with classroom teachers to coordinate student instruction, including providing extra support to English learners or students with IEPs.Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to reinforce learning concepts presented by lead teachers.Prepare culturally responsive lesson outlines and plans in assigned subject areas.Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other school facility spaces.Grade homework and tests, and compute and record results.Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids such as charts and graphs.Display student work (e.g., on bulletin boards).Take class attendance, and maintain attendance records.Assist in bus loading and unloading.Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required.Carry out therapeutic regimens such as behavior modification and personal development programs, under the supervision of special education instructors, psychologists, or speech-language pathologists.Assist students with computer hardware and software use.Provide students with IEPs with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms.Request and stock teaching materials and supplies.Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.Collaborate with other educators and colleagues, including other teachers, EL Education school designer, service providers, and school leaders about students, classroom management, culture, habits of character, curriculum, instruction, and assessmentModel and demonstrate a strong commitment to: the schools vision and motivating others to do the same;the work of being an anti-racist school;student empowerment, and commitment to allowing students to play an active role in supporting the schools vision and climate; anda whatever it takes spirit to ensure that each student is successful.Demonstrate enthusiasm for fostering teamwork and collaboration to support excellence in teaching and learning.Show a commitment to continually seek out perspectives across a range of identities and can respond appropriately to the perspectives of students, staff, families, and other stakeholders.Join Our Adult CrewAt Worcester Cultural Academy, our faculty and staff collaborate and support one another and our students through a number of school-wide activities, events and celebrations.
