River Valley, a growing specialty foods distributor in Syracuse, NY, is searching for a full time Forklift/Warehouse Associate for the Health and Wellness Warehouse.

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

The Forklift/Warehouse Associate is responsible for flexibly performing a variety of warehouse roles including replenishment, receiving, scheduling, accessing lumper fees, put-away, selecting, and other warehouse tasks to meet our customers’ needs.

The H&W Forklift/Warehouse Associate reports to the Health & Wellness Warehouse Manager.

Starting pay: $19.25/hour

Hours: 6am – 4:45pm on 4-10 hour shifts. (overtime may be available/required). Hours and days are subject to change as business dictates.

Essential Functions

• Arrive on time for the start of the scheduled shift
• Perform a pre-operation inspection of forklift or any equipment being used
• Accurately receive items and palletize them for put away
• Adhere to HACCP requirements of refrigerated loads
• Follow company and SQF guidelines when handling products, including the handling of damaged cases found during receiving
• Ensure pallets are properly wrapped to ensure stability though the warehouse
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other equipment in a safe manner at all times
• Verify, UPD, Description, and Pack Size of item being received
• Additional duties (selecting, cleaning, replenishing bays, or others) requested by supervisor

Requirements and Qualifications

• Prior Standing/High Reach Forklift experience required
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read, speak and understand English in order to understand supervisor instructions
• Organized, self-motivated and have good communication skills
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Able to lift 75 pounds consistently throughout the shift
• Able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods of time
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Prior receiving experience (preferred, not required)
• Ability to use the RF gun
