The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.

Position Purpose:
The Upper Main Line YMCA is looking for an experienced individual to assume the Forever Well Program Coordinator leadership role, including administrative, programmatic and membership duties.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensures Active Older Adult programs and services meet community needs to include working with branches on existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program across branches and communities as needed.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Leveraging Volunteers to run programs, recruiting and training volunteer leaders and teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
  • Coordinate experiences of speakers and local and regional trips.
  • Create a schedule and calendar of events and programs to current and potential members throughout the branch service area to ensure robust, consistent, and a growing and thriving Active Older Adult community with The Y.
  • Cultivates relationships with peers at community organizations, senior centers and participates in community-focused senior meetings and events.
  • Models effective listening skills when interacting with staff, members and volunteers. Ensures that staff have opportunities to develop their own listening skills.
  • Provides education for staff on how to support and respect the need of individuals with diverse abilities or varying health status. Ensures staff understand and apply cultural awareness to healthy living practices. Helps staff, members and program participants achieve goals.
  • Researches and identifies new trends, including technology, to inform Active Older Adult programs.
  • Implement and oversee Matter of Balance.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years working with the senior population in the YMCA or another community organization
  • Minimum of two years of YMCA wellness experience-related experience or within another organization required
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff required
  • Preferred knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
