THE OPPORTUNITY

Trident United Way is excited to be bringing the first FoodShare Program to Berkeley County in partnership with FoodShare SC. This is an ideal opportunity for the right individual who is looking to make a direct impact with the community.

In this new role, the FoodShare Program Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of FoodShare Berkeley through collaboration with the TUW Financial Stability and Health impact areas, key partners, and by performing outreach in the communities served by Trident United Way.

The FoodShare Program looks to solve the challenge faced by many Berkeley County residents to obtain access to fresh fruits and vegetables by creating a powerful, community movement to offer affordable fresh fruits and vegetables and empower participants with the know-how and skill to prepare healthy, tasty meals. This engagement with the community will also integrate both TUW’s Health education to improve diet and lifestyle for better health and its Resource Connection Centers, which assist individuals in becoming financially stable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of FoodShare Berkeley including: management of Health Vista onsite, in partnership with the health programs manager and AmeriCorps program director, oversite of client orders, and scheduling of food deliveries inclusive of packing boxes and distribution.
  • Convene regular partner meeting with PointeNorth lead in partnership with AVP of Community Impact
  • Coordinate use of space with partners at the PointeNorth Church food pantry
  • Coordinate and maintain sufficiency of FoodShare Berkeley equipment, maintenance, and space needs
  • Create a plan for community engagement and awareness and partnerships (distribution, volunteers, long-term new sites) and proactively manage the plan
  • Work synergistically with staff around fundraising opportunities/donor meetings
  • Provide training for volunteers, staff, and partner sites
  • Be the first point of contact and liaison to the Berkeley and Dorchester Resource Connection Center staffs and the Strategic Volunteer Engagement team at Trident United
  • Be able to assess and manage volunteer staffing needs, recruitment, and scheduling
  • Support, in partnership with the TUW Marketing team, content and a strategy to promote the FoodShare’s performance
  • Measure and report on the FoodShare Program’s performance to Evaluation and Learning, Finance and any other parties as a requirement for compliance

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Associate degree with 8 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Experience working with nonprofits that provide direct service to low-income individuals and/or food insecurity preferred
  • Ability to successfully cross-train in, pass and utilize all training certifications and/or exams, including, but not limited to: SC Thrive hub applications and free tax preparation, CharityTracker, Mental Health First Aid, and 2-1-1
  • Ability to work with professionals at all levels, as well as individuals in need of service
  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and database software
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment where critical thinking and problem-solving are needed
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal (to include public speaking) and written communication skills
  • Willingness to be trained to use a pallet jack and other small equipment in a warehouse setting
