Summary

The Food Service Coordinator performs a variety of tasks associated with the preparation and serving of foods and beverages, including but not limited to preparing breakfast items, sack lunches for employed residents, snacks, coffee, and tea. Responsible for standard food service work including sanitation duties, and various serving responsibilities.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assembles breakfast items, such as granola bars, bread and applesauce, sack lunches and makes coffee, tea, and other beverages.
  • May transport meals in bulk from local jail to facility or oversee microwave use to heat prepared frozen meals.
  • Plates food portions on trays and pours beverages.
  • Scrapes, washes, and sorts dishes, glassware, and silverware; cleans kitchen equipment, pots and pans, counters, and tables; and sweep and mops floors.
  • Assists management in simple inventory counts and similar information needed for the placement of food and supply orders. Receives deliveries and takes inventory.
  • Prepares various documents required in the food service operation including preparation and inventory pull sheets, production and service documentation, sanitation records, and meal delivery records.
  • Assists management in conducting orientation and training for staff and resident workers.
  • Monitors and directs resident workers in tray preparation, cleanup, sanitation, and other related duties to the operation of the food service area.
  • Complies with company policies and work rules as described in the company Employee Handbook and the Facility Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Adheres to attendance policies and is available to work any shifts or work overtime to ensure adequate coverage of the program and to ensure the safety and security of the residents.
  • Complies with facility safety rules and takes appropriate corrective action to ensure work is performed in a safe manner and without injury to self or others.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years in food service field of which two (2) years should include administrative experience with food preparation, ordering and planning in an institutional-type kitchen
  • Familiar with supply resources, portion control, kitchen equipment, current kitchen management techniques and inventory control.
  • Ability to maintain proper inventory of supplies.
  • Ability to convert menus based on the needs of the facility.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
