Role Overview

We are looking for:

The Compounding Floor Operator will posses the necessary skills to work in the production area which consist of four operating shifts. This position will be responsible for the safe operation of the work processes to achieve unit safety, quality and production goals. The Compounding Floor Operator will also be responsible for compliance of all Supervisors Notes, MI’s, SOP’s and written instructions, insuring all paperwork is completed correctly and all Safety Standards are followed. This is a shift position that will require working a rotating shift.

  • Solve production problems (quality & efficiency) and demonstrate empowerment to stop production when safety or quality problems exist.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and neat work unit.
  • Ensure that all unit KPI’s are met.
  • Drive improvements in operations safety performance by sharing best practices with other shifts and the embedded trainer
  • Follow through on assigned safety action items and participate in follow-up investigations for incidents and near misses including Apollo RCA’s
  • Understand, troubleshoot, operate, and monitor area equipment/processes as required.
  • Must have sound knowledge of and properly complete all required paperwork, including checklists and electronic reports.
  • Follow ALL area procedures and policies without exception. This would include MI’s, cleanout check sheets, yield tracking, Quality System Procedures, Test Methods, turnaround tracking and any other applicable initiatives.
  • Take readings on equipment as required, monitor the process and equipment for proper operations, take samples as needed and react to upset or emergency conditions.
  • Perform all manual loading and unloading of materials or equipment as required.
  • Participate in JSA’s, What-if Scenarios and safety audits.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the Quality System Procedures and requirements as well as quality standards.
  • Complete all required safety and process training on or before specified due date.
  • Must be certifiable on fork truck operation and other industrial lifting equipment.
  • Perform startup QC and line checks as required by area procedures.
  • Demonstrate competency to perform analytical methods as defined in area procedures.
  • Demonstrate basic SPC skills
  • Work with the Shift Supervisor to prepare and generate permits for ongoing work in your area
  • Perform minor maintenance as required on process equipment.

You will bring:

  • High school diploma or general high school equivalent (GED). Successfully achieve the minimum skill levels for the Compounding Floor Operator job profile through the WORK KEYS skills assessment.
  • Minimum of two years experience in a manufacturing environment- preferably in the plastic extrusion and/or chemical processing industry.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work safely.
  • Capability of working with computers and computerized process control.
  • Must show attention to detail / ability to accurately complete paperwork.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and understand process drawings including P&ID’s and/or EFD’s.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule and work overtime.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate to coworkers and supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Lockout/Tagout and confined space protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and a strong motivation to learn new processes.
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights.
  • Must be willing to be a member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a company physical from the company doctor based on the physical requirements of this job.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to multi-task
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $30.58 per hour. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
