The University of Virginia Police Department (UPD) seeks applicants for a Fiscal Technician position. The position supports the department through the purchasing of services and supplies to keep day to day operations running efficiently.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for the purchase of services and products to support the day to day operations of the department.

  • Sourcing suppliers based on price, availability, necessity, and quality.

  • Assessing vendors and their offering with in-person visits, interviews and analysis to assess quality.

  • Internal department collaboration to ensure satisfaction with services and supplies.

  • Negotiation of sale agreements and supply contracts

  • Coordinating with shipping agencies and sellers to ensure timely deliveries and oversee the integrity and quality of delivered goods and services

  • Authorizing payments and managing purchasing expenses with meticulous record-keeping

  • Assisting with logistical preparations for special events

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and at least 2 years of work related experience

  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills

  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and inclusive

  • Able to work collaboratively and independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other related field

  • Working knowledge of "Workday" (UVA's chosen platform for finance)

  • Three years of work experience in business finance

Due to the nature of work and hours of operation (24/7) of the police department, some limited weekends and after hours work may be required of this position.

Anticipated hiring range: $19.00 - $23.20/ hour
