FINANCIAL AID SPECIALIST
This is a year-round position with full-time administrative appointment in the Financial Aid Department. This position will report to the Director of Financial Aid.

Under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for providing information and assistance to potential students regarding the financial aid application process and potential funding options.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Duties are performed in an office setting. Working effectively and collaboratively in a team environment is a must.

This is a non-exempt, full-time regular position. Hours may vary depending on the needs of the department. Overtime may be required.


WAGE RANGE: $20-$21/hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree or Certificate of Completion from an Accredited Career School.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Will on occasion be required to drive on behalf of Perry Technical Institute. Employee must possess a working vehicle, hold a valid driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record, and produce proof of insurance.
  • Must be willing to consent to a drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual (fluent in English & Spanish language).
  • Working knowledge of federal financial aid programs.
  • Experience with financial aid management systems, preferably PowerFAIDS.
  • Experience working in an academic setting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Have good attendance; communicate effectively and interface with students and staff in a professional, approachable manner.
  • Provide, interpret and explain federal and state forms to potential student aid recipients including but not limited to Financial Aid packets, State Grant applications and additional Financial Aid forms.
  • Greet visitors and assist students with the electronic FAFSA/WASFA application/Master Promissory Notes/counseling sessions.
  • As permitted attend financial aid nights at local high schools to assist with financial aid applications (travel required).
  • Import Federal & State Financial Student Aid Reports; review all quality control rules related to importing of records.
  • Process match record updates from Jenzabar to PowerFAIDS system.
  • To-Do List student outreach for assigned letter range (calls, emails, texts, post cards).
  • Coordinate correspondence to potential students regarding missing file information.
  • Review financial aid offers with students and counsel them on their financing options.
  • Manage awarding/disbursing of funds to include Pell, certificate reimbursements, Careers That Work scholarship and all outside scholarships.
  • Monitor/respond to financial aid inbox and CADENCE texting platform.
  • General clerical duties such as preparing mail, answering telephones, filing and keeping inventory on FA supply items.
  • Maintain the Financial Aid Specialist procedures in OneNote.
  • Other duties as assigned.
