Position Summary:

Center For Family Services is seeking an experienced and professional Family Support Coordinator for the ReConnect Family Support Program. The Family Support Coordinator position requires patience, dedication, understanding, and the ability to provide peer to peer compassionate support to program participants.

Location: Egg Harbor Twp., NJ

Job Type/Status: Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Constructs individualized wellness plans with family members which are culturally competent, contain relevant services and identifies goals with measurable objectives identified by the family member.
  • Offers resources to families seeking information on substance use disorder and behavioral treatment. Resources include accessing treatment information through REACH-NJ, NJ Connect, private insurance, DMHAS IME Addiction Access Center, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) options, etc.
  • Provides outreach and coordination of services with all systems involved with the family (i.e. support community, treatment community, IME, and Opioid Overdose Recovery Program (OORP).
  • Informs family member about Naloxone training and where Naloxone kits can be obtained
  • Connects families with other family members if desired;
  • Advocates on behalf of families;
  • Provides recovery resources;
  • Provides lists of 12 Step and Recovery Support Group Meeting locations and/or other Mutual Support Groups for families;
  • Actively listens to a family members, allowing them to share their stories of success, struggles, and barriers;
  • Guides family member in exploring effective coping strategies such as self-care;
  • Facilitates psychoeducation and support group meetings as needed;
  • Offers supportive strategies on how to motivates loved ones into entering and staying in treatment and connects with recovery support services
  • Teaches positive communication skills and is able to engage in role-plays with family members to rehearse positive communication skills,
  • Creates an engaging and respectful environment that recognizes, supports, and encourages family member as important collaborators in their loved ones care.
  • Informs families of "patient brokering" that may result in unethical practices during their time of need to seek immediate treatment for their loved ones.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Graduate/GED required
  • Experience: Some college/bachelor's degree, or has experience working in the substance use field/acquires CPRS
  • Federal and State regulations require that employees in this program are fully vaccinated. According to the CDC, fully vaccinated means to have received the initial vaccination(s) and at least one booster shot. As you apply for this position, please ensure you are fully vaccinated.   • Vehicle with current insurance and registration
  • Applicant must be willing to work nights and some weekends and travel throughout Southern NJ as needed to meet clients

About the Reconnect Program:

When a person uses drugs and alcohol, it can affect how they maintain relationships and connections with family members and friends. Often, loved ones of the person are left seeking ways to cope with the stresses addiction causes in their own lives. ReConnections is a program that offers peer-to-peer coaching and support services to family, friends, and loved ones of individuals struggling with addiction. Our staff will work with program participants to begin the process of healing from the effects addiction has had on personal relationships and boundaries. Through our comprehensive range of services, ReConnections will help program participants to better understand the effects of your loved one's addiction and help them to navigate and utilize resources for their treatment and recovery. Additionally, staff will work with program participants to develop their own personal recovery strategy focused on their well-being.
