The Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics seeks a Faculty Affairs and Staffing Administrator to provide a variety of support to faculty, students, and staff. This position will have the exciting opportunity of being the main point of contact for projects related to faculty affairs and get the opportunity to assist the department with staffing related items. A few of these projects may include administratively leading faculty searches, the appointment/promotion process, questions related to these processes, temp/casual employee hires, and other operational projects that advance the goals of the department. The position will report to the Director of Finance and Operations and will work collaboratively with all faculty and staff within the department. Come join our team!


Your responsibilities include:

  • Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities of the department by identifying and executing tasks and objectives, and making recommendations that impact policies to achieve the goals of the Aero/Astro department particularly in the areas of faculty affairs and staffing.
  • Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends to assist faculty and achieve the goals of the department.
  • Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for the department surrounding faculty affairs and staffing.
  • Represent the department as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department in terms of faculty affairs and staffing areas. Provide information and/or trainings when necessary.
  • Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning/promoting events and/or conferences.
  • May participate in development of budgets, monitor, and approve expenditures as it relates to faculty affairs and staffing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required):

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.

Education & Experience (Desired):

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Advanced skills and experience in basic computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success in following through and completing projects.

Physical Requirements*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.

Pay Range:

The expected pay range for this position is $66,100 to $107,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
