Job Summary

Oversees the safe and efficient operation of a steam, chilled water, and waste water treatment plant for a 24/7 operation. Supervises Operations personnel and work assignments including scheduling, time reporting, and performance management. Provides technical support while coordinating operations, maintenance, and repair for plant equipment and associated distribution systems. Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs supervisory duties including full range of recruitment, staff development and performance evaluation activities.

  • Supports departmental response to audits.

  • Monitor budgets and operational costs.

  • Leads local small capital projects.

  • Develops business relationships with internal and external clients and suppliers.

  • Ensures training of technical staff and the maintenance of training documentation.

  • Oversees work schedules and assignments.

  • Establish maintenance program for plant equipment, using CMMS, to ensure reliable and efficient operation of plant equipment/systems.

  • Operational SOP/P&P development, implementation and review.

  • Provides reporting on budgets, productivity statistics, and departmental measurements

  • Provides for safety and welfare of staff and supports/enforces Environmental Health and Safety Policies.

  • Lead operations staff to operate equipment in the most reliable and efficient manner

  • Initiate changes to UMS.

  • Attends all related company, department and EHS required safety training.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in related discipline.

  • Experience may be substituted for education

  • Effective organizational skills with commitment to deadlines

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing business needs

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Experience

  • 5 years related experience and 1 year supervisory experience.

  • Experience in a GXP environment is preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computerized asset and work order management systems.

  • Basic ability to use MS Office.

Working Conditions and Special Factors

  • GXP/ISO regulated environment.

  • Exposure to noise, heat, and cold.

  • Personal protective equipment required to be worn for some work settings.

  • Weekend and off shift work may be required.

  • Mandatory immunizations and screening as required.
