The Facilities and Operations Manager reports directly to the Director of Facilities. The Facilities and Operations Manager oversees all construction and project management, facilities, maintenance, vendor and contractor relationships, and other operational divisions of the college as assigned.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Manages the day-to-day operations of College facilities including but not limited to planning, organizing and directing the maintenance, repair and alteration of college buildings and grounds; ensuring jobs are completed efficiently, within regulator guidelines and projected deadlines
  • Assists in preparing and manages annual budgets for all departments under the positions oversight, ensures optimal utilization of personnel and resources
  • Develop and administer plans for the facilities operations and other related services. Delegate to staff to complete tasks outlined in the plans.
  • Lead, organize, manage, and supervise all maintenance and warehouse staff in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as following all established policies, procedures and applicable labor agreements
  • Assist in the development and implementation of plans, systems, and procedures for the physical plant that will increase operating efficiencies and optimal function;, manage and coordinate those efforts/systems with staff
  • Provide an efficient work order system for repairs of facilities and equipment that ensures that all maintenance and repairs are complete in a timely fashion, and provide regular work order status reports
  • Recommend facility improvements and modernization to improve the systems, equipment, and facilities of the college
  • Conduct regular inspections of all school facilities, grounds, and equipment to ensure that high standards for cleanliness, attractiveness, and safety are maintained
  • Recommend any improvements needed
  • Assist the Director of Facilities in development of the Master Plan, and Chapter XII funding and Board of School Estimate funding requests, reports, and presentations
  • Establish department policies and procedures in collaboration with the Director of Facilities, for the effective utilization of available funds, personnel, equipment, materials and supplies necessary to maintain the established and ongoing activities of the facilities operations
  • Review and evaluate ongoing facility maintenance, design and construction, and other programs as assigned for efficiency, effectiveness, and suitability to current conditions
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a capital planning and tracking process through which clear goals and priorities in the capital projects area are established and which provides a system for monitoring progress against stated foals on a project by project basis
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Facilities and other stakeholders/supervisors to develop and implement an effective preventative maintenance program
  • Oversee the development of all reports and documents that require the review of the Director of Facilities
  • Perform all other responsibilities consistent with the departments goals in order to meet the needs of the college
  • Respond to all emergency and weather events
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Directly manages and supervises employees at multiple campus locations within the Facilities and related divisions, departments and operations. Carries out managerial and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the College’s policies, rules and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent college/university program certificate plus a minimum of two (2) years of applied supervisory/managerial experience; an Associate’s degree plus four (4) years supervisory experience; or the equivalent combination of college/university or trade specific education and at least six (6) years of managerial/supervisory applied experience.
