Fabrication Assembly Helper

Job Description

Responsible for working under the supervision of the Lead Fabrication Assembler to fabricate structural or sheet metal production and to perform any combination of the following: lifting, positioning, placing/removing pieces from machines, assisting in fitting and welding, etc. This position reports to the CAPS NW Lead Fabrication Assembler.

Job Duties

  • Abide by all safety rules and procedures
  • Construct structural components of products
  • Hold tape and rods, mark reference points, assist in layouts
  • Load, stack, and transport stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or truck
  • Attach rope or grappling equipment to prepare work for moving by crane or job
  • Clean and scrape metal to prepare for fabricating, welding, assembling, or shipping
  • Work as a team member or alone to complete projects
  • Remove and truck scrap from work areas
  • Maintain work area and general shop area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisory or management personnel

Special Skills

  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and consistently
  • Ability to use hand tools, drills, grinders, rivet guns, etc. safely and correctly
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Interpersonal and communication skills

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years in sheet metal or fabrication
