Job Description

The Interior Technician is a highly skilled role responsible for creating and installing high end upholstery and interior components into our classic vehicles. In depth knowledge of modern upholstery techniques, a good eye for detail, and the ability to visualize design ideas is required.

About Your Role

  • Make, install, repair, replace, or modify seats, upholstery, linings, interior trim, roof and door linings, and floor coverings.
  • Make recommendations for upgrades to set the Velocity standard.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use sewing machine or hand stitching.
  • Install precise customized vintage interiors.
  • Adapt and conform with a wide variety of premium quality upholstery.
  • Utilize creative knowledge with hand-crafted upholstery applications.
  • Inspect both raw material and finished product for conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficiently organized workstation.
  • Possess a strong understanding of measurements in all units.
  • Work with composites, carbon fiber, and starboard.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to properly install upholstery in tight spaces of interior vehicle frames.
  • Relentless desire to produce high quality work and to continue learning new trends and techniques.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working independently or in a team setting.
  • Comfortable with verbal and written direction and switching tasks as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Mandatory drug screening required.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in the automotive industry environment or other related fields of high-quality automotive upholstery (Prior automotive restoration preferred).
  • Experience with sewing machines and hand stitching with precise hand-eye coordination.

Physical Demands (to include but not limited to)

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment or power tools.
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and place items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Frequent reaching overhead and below knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Frequently and repeatedly using hands and wrists to grasp, move, manipulate, and assemble fabrics and objects.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
