The Position

We seek a full-time developer with demonstrated programming experience and/or a related CS degree. The Experience Design Programmer II will work with and learn from our coders, designers, UI/UX developers, and producers as we work on the next generation of interactive exhibits and installations for world-renowned museums, zoos, aquariums, and Fortune 500 companies. The Experience Design Programmer II position will help develop interactive exhibits, educational games, and other applications using a variety of large-scale hardware including large displays and touchscreens, projection & projection mapping, and video/LED walls. Much of this programming is done in Unity, but we use a variety of different tools to develop public installations and exhibitions. In addition, we often use arduinos, kinect sensors, tangible objects, touchless devices, microcontrollers, LED lights, and other IoT devices. The ideal candidate has some experience with the tools that we work with and a strong general programming background. We seek someone who is collaborative and quick to learn and share new techniques and technologies.

This is a full-time, onsite position in Corrales, New Mexico. All of our employees are 100% vaccinated (you will need to be too) and while there are some work-at-home opportunities this job is an onsite position. We are a fast-paced company with high expectations; we seek someone who is as passionate about the work as we are. Our developers collaborate with the rest of the Creative Services team and our hardware and fabrication groups, so strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. As a relatively small company (around 45 people) that has a diverse set of projects and unique products, we seek individuals who are flexible and have diverse skill sets.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of experience programming in multiple languages/environments

    • Unity and C# are most commonly used at Ideum

  • Demonstrated experience in programming visual interfaces of some kind (UI/UX)

  • Experience with networking / IT

  • Experience / curiosity in programming for hardware like arduinos and kinects

  • Experience developing projects from concept to completion

  • Experience with GitHub or other code repositories

  • Detail-oriented

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to contribute to documentation and other written materials

  • Highly motivated and self-directed

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Extra Credit

  • Experience with Unity3D

Benefits and Incentives

Compensation between $55,000 to $70,000 depending on experience

After 90 days of employment, this position includes paid time off, health, dental, and vision insurance, critical illness and accident insurance, life insurance, and short-term/long-term disability. Employees are eligible after one year of employment for our 401K Safe Harbor Profit Sharing Plan.
