Position
As an Executive Sous Chef with Topanga Social, it will be your primary responsibility to manage and execute cuisine that exceeds guest and partner expectations, while maintaining the highest level of quality and consistency. Provide strong leadership while living our Company vision and values. The Executive Sous Chef works directly with the Executive Chef to train and manage Sous Chefs and hourly employees. Works with recipe management systems, training & compliance, supply chain, and any other duties and responsibilities, as needed and directed by the Executive Chef, General Manager, and Assistant General Manager. Has superior organization skills, is extremely detailed-oriented and thorough.

Responsibilities
  • You will maintain and execute recipes and menus in accordance with brand / partner standards
  • Be a creative problem-solver who brings passion, enthusiasm, and fresh ideas with the ability to work independently and have the capacity to manage up and down
  • Conducts daily walkthroughs in culinary areas throughout every shift to ensure that all safety, sanitation, and security standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and company policies / guidelines
  • Ensures team members have the tools necessary to complete their jobs
  • Responds and assists in any departmental guest service issues
  • Practices proper product control and handling of all inventory and equipment
  • Forecasts and adequately schedules team members to meet operational needs and desired targets
  • Ability to taste and evaluate food and beverage products
  • Ensures team members adhere to Topanga Social guidelines as stated in the team member training manual and employee handbook
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and develops team members according to Topanga Social guidelines
  • Promotes a cooperative work environment, maximizing productivity and morale, and displays a positive attitude towards team members
  • Mentors and assists Sous Chefs and hourly team members to improve their skills and leadership abilities while also holding them accountable when necessary
  • Able to communicate effectively with the management team, guests, and team members
  • Minimize turnover by responding to and resolving employee issues and training concerns to ensure high functioning and motivated employees
  • Collaborate on programs to reward positive contributions. Coach and counsel employees whose performance is below expectations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Extremely self-starting and able to recognize, act upon and solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work well with people with a wide range professional styles and personalities, strong follow-up skills, particularly in dealing with requests and projects that span several weeks and are outside of routine tasks and responsibilities, strong sense of personal accountability and responsibility/business ownership
  • Education: College or Technical School preferred
  • Experience: Four to six years related experience
  • Computer Skills: Intermediate / advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook)
  • Core Competency: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or with or without reasonable accommodations.
