ARCO/Murray National Construction is currently seeking an experienced Excel VBA Developer to join our Innovation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing Excel-based applications and will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing complex Excel-based systems.

This role will design, build, test, deploy and support elegant, scalable and reliable software solutions primarily using the Microsoft Office suite of software, specifically Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) for our associates and clients. This role will include supporting, enhancing, and training on existing Excel VBA tools as well as creating new tools. This is a fast-paced and exciting role that provides opportunities to work on a wide array of projects interacting with and positively impacting every department in the business.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:
  • Collaborate within and across departments to create new software that achieves business objectives
  • Improve and support macro-enabled Excel tools into stable, supportable, and scalable solutions
  • Customize and iterate improvements to current Excel tools and associated VBA code
  • Design and assist in creation of training documentation (both written and video) and work with end-users to provide training and support
  • Design, develop and continuously improve business applications for ARCO’s unique Design/Build construction methodology with a creative approach
  • Build, maintain and deploy Excel-based solutions to help improve product quality and overall company efficiency
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Excel VBA code
  • Analyze structured and unstructured data
  • Develop, maintain, and document internal code
  • Possible local travel between the Downers Grove and Downtown Chicago offices
  • Possible infrequent travel to ARCO/Murray’s other offices (Dallas, Nashville, Denver, Oakland, Minneapolis, Ft. Lauderdale, Austin)
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Code samples and/or coding assessment will be required
  • 3-5 years of relevant software development and support experience required, specifically custom written Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) experience
  • Must have excellent Microsoft Excel skills (knowledge of formulas, formatting, arrays, data & string manipulation, Pivot Tables) and be strongly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • PowerApps, PowerBI, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL, and Database design and administration a plus
