Position Specific Responsibilities
Wichita State University is seeking an Events Manager to support the Office for Workforce, Professional and Community Education. In this role, you will have the opportunity to plan conferences and events and work with both community partners and internal clients. Professional communication and ability to multi-task is essential as you execute your clients’ vision for their event(s) within budget.

Summary of Responsibilities

Manages events and projects with a high level of University impact. Develops, coordinates, and/or executes strategic event planning and implementation. Coordinates with campus and community stakeholders to facilitate effective presentation of programs or events.



Essential Functions

Performs public relations, sponsorship, hospitality, and/or project management for University events.
Develops, coordinates, and/or implements all amenities, accommodations and/or production of materials and resources for events, as well as any associated contract negotiations. May assist or lead others in the execution or task deliverables.
Develops, plans, and maintains events calendar and/or records, and ensures alignment with University objectives.
Collaborates with senior leaders and/or affiliated stakeholders to ensure event success.
May conduct post-event evaluations. Recommends and/or adheres to event budgets and/or maintains financial information.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent by hire date



Preferred Education

Minimum Experience

Two (2) years of experience in office, event coordination or related field



Preferred Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to support university faculty, administrators, and conference and community education presenters, as well as off-campus organizations in program planning, development and management.
Ability to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations as well as the requirements of licensing and regulatory agencies.
Ability to perform due diligence to determine if a conference, workshop, community education course or other event is sustainable and whether there is an appropriate return on investment and adequate cost recovery.
Ability to assist with planning, oversight and management responsibilities for all University commencement ceremonies, which are large events with multiple components.
