Bristol Bay Construction Holdings LLC (BBCH) is growing! We are seeking an experienced, technically proficient, Environmental Technician to join our Aerostar SES LLC team, a subsidiary of BBCH. Aerostar SES is looking for an Environmental Technician for our field office in Jacksonville. The position is full-time. Preferred Jacksonville area resident, however, will consider relocation for the right candidate. Compensation:

$35,000 - $55,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

  • Observe and comply with all company and site-specific safety and project policies. Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Provide input to Activity Hazard Analysis or Job Safety Analysis development.
  • Perform daily pre-inspection and ongoing maintenance checks while operating equipment.
  • Constant inspection and surveillance of surroundings before and during operation to ensure safe ground or slope conditions exist, as well as adequate distance observed for other equipment or personnel.
  • Communicate with others by all means possible (visible or radio contact) including interpreting hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed or loaded.
  • Work and conduct tasks with supervision.
  • Perform duties efficiently and safely under the direction of Foreman, Site Superintendent, or other responsible fields/project management.
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials/work pieces during installation and for the care and custody of equipment being operated, including daily cleaning and maintenance, and reporting all equipment maintenance issues to Superintendent.

Qualifications:

  • 0-1+ years of experience in heavy equipment operations and/or construction.
  • Experience operating loaders, rubber-tired backhoes, excavators, roller compactors, skid steer loaders, and/or forklifts, preferred.
  • Experience using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations regarding excavation methods and practices.
  • Must be willing to function as a general laborer or collect environmental samples when needed.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma-G.E.D. or demonstrated proficiency in required tasks.
  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER preferred, but not required.
  • As a condition of employment, you may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable references and background check results.

Physical Requirements Statement:

This position requires the ability to maneuver around work sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining the physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; frequent opportunity to move about and to work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements with weather that will include extreme heat, cold, wind, rain or other inclement weather, walking over rough and uneven surfaces, and routine lifting of up to 35 pounds. If required, must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times including but not limited to; hard hats, steel-toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection. Must maintain a constant state of mental alertness at all times. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment:

Job is performed in a combination of office and outdoor site locations. The office setting includes exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Outdoor settings include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
