Summary: The Employment Specialist will coordinate and implement services for program participants. They must be able to help clients assess their job skill level and encourage and help them set and reach their employment goals. The Employment Specialist must be able to motivate clients, identify training needs, construct instructional programs, monitor, and communicate client progress, and demonstrate proper social skills that will enhance the ability to employment in a community setting. The Employment Specialist will also need to be able to apply and teach clients specific job skills in a classroom setting, as well as individually. In addition, they must be able to provide clients with information and resources regarding job skill issues. The Employment Specialist must be able to provide meaningful job training opportunities for program participants including paid working experiences, internships, job shadowing, volunteer opportunities and mentorships. Partner with local businesses to seek out job experiences for program participants. The Employment Specialist role is to function as a team member while providing instruction and support to individuals with disabilities who are receiving services from Easterseals. The Employment Specialist is expected to know and understand Easterseal's Policies, Mission, and Person-Centered Principles and how to incorporate these into daily support for people with disabilities. The Employment Specialist is responsible for supporting individuals to participate in the full range of activities enhances life/work in the community, including those activities both at home and in their neighborhoods and communities necessary to establish a lifestyle in accordance with the persons supported objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain compliance with all regulatory bodies.
Ensures that services adhere to regulations.
Maintains detailed client case notes, compiles, and submits reports.
Ensures we are meeting the goal of Vocational Rehabilitation and Ticket to Work.
Accurately tracks, monitors, and documents all approved billing
Ensures accurate and proper documentation of services; ensures that services adhere to regulations
Adheres to Easterseals Arc Human Resources and EEO/AA policies and performs other duties as assigned

Partners with Vocational Rehabilitation and Ticket to Work to develop and carry out an individual person-centered plans
Provides resources to families regarding Employment Services
Performs duties and develops work training opportunities for participants
Accurately documents all services provided and ensures they are individualized unless stated differently
Respect confidentiality and deliver services in a culturally competent fashion that is also respectful
Facilitates learning in community settings
Attends meeting regarding employment for the participants being served
Preserve, support, and stabilize families, and promote the well-being of children, adults, and families
Applies for and refers to community employment resources and or post-secondary resources
Support people to be safe and have optimal health and well being
Help with maintaining the work/training environment to always ensure safety
Strives to always put the needs of the participant first
Reports and notifies the supervisor of any immediate issues or problems that may be seen.
Ensures all work site locations are safe and optimal for the participants
Maintain a positive and supportive environment with all family members
Positively represent Easterseals Arc.
Uphold agency values and follow agency policies and procedures
Maintain confidentiality of records/information according to HIPAA, State, Federal Laws and guidelines
Maximize and responsibly utilize agency and community resources
Serves as liaison between Easterseals Arc and the designated location
Ability work remotely and exercise good judgement and common sense

Requirements: Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Must complete Employment Specialist training within the first year of employment.
Skills and ability to pass the BIN (Benefit Information Network) Certification.
Must be able to effectively communicate with Vocational Rehabilitation, Ticket to Work, and businesses on a continual basis
Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and other checks as deemed necessary
A valid driver's license & insured vehicle and safe driving history
Ability to coach individuals in a positive way while on the job
Ability to recognize issues within the work environment and find quick solutions to them
Knowledge of Vocational Rehabilitation Services process preferred
Must be organized and able to communicate employment goals to the ID/DD team regularly
Ability to communicate with an individual in the individual's mode of communication.
Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration and Positive Behavioral Support Training and other trainings as deemed necessary by the agency
Ability to effectively use a computer to complete required documentation, and ability to learn more intensive systems
Ability to comprehend and implement State, Medicaid, Agency, and Department regulations as well as individual client service plans
Understands the nature of individuals with disabilities and able to identify and provide resources
Ability to work remotely at times
Responsible for carrying a caseload and meeting with each individual regularly
Exercise good judgment and common sense.
Able to communicate honestly and honor commitments.
Able to be flexible to meet the changing needs and desires of the people we support.

One year experience working with persons with MR/DD preferred

Working Conditions: The Employment Specialist's work is in a changing environment that adjusts to the needs of the individuals in program services. The environment may be fast paced with deadlines. Employment Specialists need to be flexible and be able to adjust to changing needs, activities, and locations. Employment Specialists must have an insured, safe vehicle in good working order to utilize for incidental transportation required for staff and program participants to and from community training opportunities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT-. Depending on the needs of the individuals, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting, or moving items up to 75 lbs., walking or standing for extended periods of time or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions.
