South Dakota State University (SDSU) Office of Human Resources is offering an exciting career opportunity as an Employee Relations Specialist/Trainer. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us in November. This is a 12-month, 100% time, benefit eligible position. This position is supervised by the Senior Employee Relations Specialist.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Employee Relations Specialist/Trainer position is primarily responsible for preparing and deploying Supervisor and other Human Resources related training to campus, investigating and guiding supervisors through performance issues, discipline processes and grievances. This position also performs a variety of duties to promote employee welfare, such as leadership support, performance management and annual reviews, supervisor support, employee support and other duties as assigned.
The successful candidates will work with university leaders to provide guidance and training on employee relations issues as well as helping them to navigate the more complex issues as they arise. This position will explain and provide advice to employees about university, SDBOR and state rules, regulations, and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a closely related field completed by first day of employment;
  • At least one year experience in Human Resources or employee support work or related support services;
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Customer service focus;
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills;
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and willingness to travel.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and conduct training.
