The Westmoreland Intermediate Unit is seeking qualified applicants for a Elementary and Secondary School Counselor that will support our non-public schools. Salary will be determined based on our Professional Staff contract and our board policy. Benefits include: health/dental/vision insurance, retirement plan (PSERS), life insurance, paid time off, sick days, and tuition reimbursement.

The School Counselor works as a team member with teachers, administrators, and parents. The School Counselor is responsible for individual and/or group guidance and counseling services to assist students in relating to family, school, society and self so that they may realize their maximum potential. The School Counselor provides crisis, developmental, educational, career awareness and vocational counseling on an individual or group basis according to Act 89 guidelines, and as outlined in CSPG No. 76, laws, Board Policy, and Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Minimum Education:

• Masters degree required
• Graduate of an institution that is certified by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
• Elementary and Secondary School Counselor (PreK-12) CSPG 76 Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) required
• National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification preferred

Minimum experience: 0-3 years

Additional requirements for this position include the following clearances: Act 34, 114 (federal criminal history) and 151 PA Child Abuse History.

Act 126 training, School Personnel Health Record (physical), and TB test result are also required.
