In this role, you will be on the frontlines troubleshooting and maintaining our electrical systems across our growing campus.

Essential Job Functions

An Electrical Control Technician at Encore Wire will be primarily responsible for the safe rectification of machinery and equipment used in the various production plants and throughout the facility as directed by Supervision or “Company dictated equipment priority”. The Control Technician must be able to work on all facility wide electrical systems. A good understanding and experience of all mechanical and electrical disciplines is needed, these would include hydraulics and pneumatics.

Requirements

1. Experience and technical knowledge of the operation of AC and DC drives.

2. A thorough understanding of speed feedback devices theory and operation.

3. An understanding of temperature control and temperature components.

4. A good understanding of PID and control loops.

5. A good understanding of Ethernet communications and connections.

6. Proficient in PLC and HMI systems, to include communications drivers and connections, PLC program navigation and controlled manipulation.

7. A thorough understanding of all electrical components and electronic devices.

8. Show an understanding and demonstrate the processes involved in diagnosing defective components, motors, drives and electronic components.

9. Able to demonstrate the ability to use diagnostic equipment.

10. Experience with selecting electrical components when original OEM components are not available.

Work Environment & Physical Responsibilities:

Duties are performed in a loud production setting subject to extreme temperatures. Some duties may be required to be performed outside. Comfortable with repetitive movement, kneeling, crouching and stooping. Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds while bending, twisting and/or standing.
