Job Highlights

  • Responsible for managing site HSEQ programs which includes the development, implementation and maintenance of programs. Programs include waste water, solid waste, hazardous waste, air emissions, storm water, life-critical standards, emergency response, hazard communication, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, injury/illness prevention and medical surveillance.
  • Overall ownership of the site’s regulatory permits and all associated regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee and coordinate the plant’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party HSEQ audit programs.
  • Develop and implement improvements to safety systems to ensure compliance with requirements and continued improvement in HSEQ performance including the tracking of leading/lagging KPIs.
  • Provide support for plant training to develop and improve safety training to educate plant personnel on HSEQ-related issues. Ensure HSEQ training is effective in sharing safety know-how needed to achieve world class safe operations.
  • Manage plant incident investigation program, ensuring proper classification, thorough root cause investigations and appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide in-plant support to ensure proper safety evaluation is performed and work is completed within requirements.
  • Gather data and maintain systems to track necessary information for internal and external reporting and to drive improvement in HSEQ performance.
  • Implement case management, working closely with plant leadership and site’s occupational health contractor to manage injuries to the lowest level possible. Ensure proper injury, illness classifications and OSHA record keeping is completed.
  • Participate in industry, corporate and business HSEQ networks and leverage best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related safety or environmental field
  • Five or more years HSEQ experience
  • Experience implementing & maintaining site wide safety related programs
  • Demonstrated HSEQ functional/technical expertise with strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, air emissions calculations, and regulatory reporting
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with organizational culture change/development
  • Ability to influence teams and resolve conflicts in support of organizational goals
  • Data management and analytical skills
  • Understanding of ISO requirements
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably chemical)
