SUMMARY

The Educator/Coordinator of the CBO plays a crucial role supporting the daily operational needs of the physician network Revenue Cycle. The Educator/Coordinator provides expertise to staff to assist with accurate billing, cash posting, and customer service needs. Serves as a resource for both clinical and financial management staff to obtain information or clarification on accurate and ethical billing requirements.

Responsible for daily monitoring of work queues. Coordinates work assignments and manages schedules for CBO teams. Identifies workflow issues and troubleshoots to meet CBO Departmental goals.

Acts as the departmental liaison to the activities in the billing and reimbursement process.

The Educator/Coordinator works closely with various clinical, financial, and revenue cycle department managers.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in Health Services Administration or Business related field. In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to a candidate with 5 years' revenue cycle experience.
  • Experience/knowledge of Cerner Millennium
  • One year of leadership experience, preferred.
  • Exemplary customer relation skills and proven ability to communicate effectively and accurately, verbally and in writing with all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability in working and problem solving with hospital PFS, clinical and financial department staff is required.
  • Advanced systems aptitude, including proficiency in MS Office. Proficiency in CBO's revenue cycle systems (eCW, Cerner, ABO, Misys) preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize projects and timelines within a flexible schedule. Problem solving is a major component of the job.
  • Able to operate under frequent stressful conditions due to constantly changing requirements in health care. Understands the process of change and how it affects human behavior.

ORGANIZATION

This position is under the general supervision of the System Manager of CBO. May also receive direction from the System Director of Professional billing.

Must maintain a working relationship with all revenue cycle, ancillary department, physician offices, and their staffs of the facility.

May assume additional departmental responsibility in the absence of the Manager.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Munson Healthcare.

  • Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.
  • Coordinates the work schedules and assignments of staff to ensure proper coverage of work volumes.
  • Manages vacation requests and schedule changes for staff in accordance to department guidelines and processes.
  • Participates and/or coordinates interviews with prospective candidates and participates in team interviews.
  • In collaboration with the CBO Educator and other System Educator/Coordinators, coordinates orientation and training of new staff, including development and maintenance of training materials, preparation of schedules and routine progress reports to Manager.
  • Develops and administers staff competencies.
  • Assists in the development of policies, procedures, guidelines, and job descriptions.
  • Participates in revenue cycle process improvement teams to implement new programs and/or resolve service line problems.
  • Facilitates and/or leads process improvement, redesign and implementation; stresses team participation.
  • Strives to enhance and improve employee satisfaction, the overall work environment and staff productivity.
  • Participates in Leadership team meetings and activities.
  • Assists with ongoing staff recruitment and retention programs.
  • Acts as a resource person regarding questions related to billing, cash posting, or customer service and to operational issues and acts as a resource person for employee questions and concerns in manager's absence.
  • Provides statistical information for the management staff to assist with quality improvement and/or budget preparation.
  • Coordinates special projects as directed.
  • Provides input into performance evaluations of staff as it relates to quality and productivity.
  • Assists in the preparation of routine staff huddles and meetings; may lead/facilitate section and/or work group meetings.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
