EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION SPECIALIST
$20 an hour – 40 hours a week

Preschool Without Walls is an enrichment program that promotes learning through play, music and movement, and hands-on activities for parents and children ages 0-5. Our activities focus on enhancing the four major domain areas of child development: Physical, cognitive, social- emotional, and language through our STEM-based curriculum. Young children learn the alphabet, colors, and basic numbers; practice their fine-motors skills alongside their parent or caregiver.
We emphasize the philosophy that parents are their child’s best-first lifelong teachers by inviting them to stay in our two-hour class with their children while learning together. The Preschool without Walls Early Childhood Education Support Specialist Lead Teacher will work in a team environment to develop and implement the Preschool without Walls curriculum that is appropriate to the child’s age while supporting their parents and caregivers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead Teacher at 4 Preschool Without Walls classes per week in different locations throughout

SPA 6 and SPA 8 for 2-3 hours

  • Prepare lesson plans for activities along with material needed to teach lesson plan
  • Prepare homework, monthly calendar, flyers and class announcements
  • Check and respond to email regularly
  • Make reminder phone calls and messages to class participants
  • Ensure each parent fills out an intake form, surveys, ASQs or any other forms needed during their participation in the program. Complete reports and input collected data.
  • Schedule and conduct one-on-ones with parents and caregivers
  • Maintain contact with class sites and inform them of any schedule changes including submitting

MOU’s and any other pertinent documents

  • Prepare and accommodate for scheduled parent workshops and trainings
  • Develop and build relationships with program participants and community spaces, such as libraries, parks, schools, etc. in order to create partnerships in the community
  • Attend agency-wide and community functions as requested (will require to work some weekends)
  • Preparation of monthly reports, success stories, and maintenance of weekly sign-in sheets as well as other documentation as requested
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Be part of other SBCC program event planning when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Does well with event alterations and sudden changes
  • Can communicate effectively

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Associates in Liberal Arts/ Child Development
  • Experience working with children and families for a minimum of 3-5 years
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to work well with diverse client populations
  • Knowledge of social services and community resources
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Accessible transportation, appropriate auto insurance coverage, bondable, and a valid Calif.

Driver’s license is required

CONTINGENCIES

COMPENSATION:

  • Hourly hire rate: $20.00
