Overview

The Agency of Education (AOE) is hiring an Education Programs Coordinator I to support transformational change efforts using the Vermont Multi-tiered System of Supports (VTmtss) Framework. The VTmtss Team uses continuous improvement methodology to provide technical assistance on systems improvement to district and school-level teams, including work supporting students' social, emotional, mental health, and academic needs. Team members collaborate with members of the AOE's Early Learning team to ensure PreK-12 VTmtss framework alignment. Team members collaborate with the AOE's Special Education team to represent the VTmtss framework within priority Special Education initiatives, including the State Systemic Improvement Plan and professional development/technical assistance provided within the AOE's General Supervision monitoring system. And the VTmtss team also coordinates multiple all-student initiatives within the AOE that touch on support systems, intervention delivery, and preventative practices, including Exclusionary Discipline, Restraints and Seclusion, and Section 504 supports.

The VTmtss Team is looking for a teammate who has experience in

  • independently managing small projects.
  • working collaboratively to lead and support projects within and across organizations.
  • clearly communicating orally and in writing.
  • analyzing data to identify trends and needs.
  • facilitating conversations with partners who may have diverse perspectives.
  • leadership experience facilitating systems change and continuous improvement initiatives in an educational setting.
  • special education or early childhood education.


This position is currently working remotely, and may need to occasionally provide technical assistance in the field.

Environmental Factors

Work is generally performed in a standard office setting but significant travel may be anticipated for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal work schedule may be required. There may be considerable interaction with a variety of publics and strong differences of opinion may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, public administration, or related field AND four (4) years or more at a professional level in education, program development, or leadership role in a public or private educational institution.
OR
Three (3) years or more of experience as an Education Consultant III with the State of Vermont.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.
