Job Title: Echo Cardiology Technician


Job Summary:

Performs and screens echocardiograms as well as generates all related reports. During down time, provides routine cardiography on all age groups (from neonate to geriatric), billing, scheduling of cardiology procedures, all related clerical work, prepares transcription of EKG’s, assists physicians with treadmill procedures, performs EKG’s, holters, EEG’s, ordering and inventory of supplies.


Essential Job Duties:

Performs echocardiograms (echoes). 

Demonstrates ability to detect possible abnormalities on an echo that are not considered to be normal and is able to directly notify the physician of any suspected abnormalities. 

Performs all Cardiology procedures, to include but are not limited to, EKG’s, EEG’s, treadmills, holters. 

Performs all aspects of office management skills, to include but not limited to, scheduling procedures, filing, billing, preparation of Cardiology reports. 

Participates in departmental and/or hospital wide Performance Improvement program to include quality control auditing and event reporting. 

Able to effectively communicate with the clinical team (nurses, physicians, and other related ancillaries), in order to advocate for patient safety and continuity of care.

Education/Experience:

 High school graduate Licensure/Certifications: 

Current BCLS 

Must have completed clinical proctoring/training in an acute care setting and/or echocardiogram certification from an accredited program.

Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred.

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to perform upper-level mathematical operations, including algebra and geometry, frequent distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is regularly required to lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 10 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT: Is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
