Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator

GENERAL SUMMARY, EDUCATION, AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator serves as a member of the District Special Education Leadership Team. The Coordinator will collaboratively develop, manage, and deliver special education programs and services for students below age five with verified disabilities. The special education program includes services to students with disabilities under NDE Rule 51, Rule 52 and other applicable laws.
    Masters degree with Early Childhood/Special Education Endorsement Required
    Must possess or be eligible for a Nebraska Administrative and Supervisory Certificate at all times during employment with such endorsements as required by NDE Rules 10 and 51
    Clear a state criminal record check and a child abuse check
Department: Certified
Reports To: Director of Student Services
Contract: 206 Days

Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator responsibilities and duties shall include:
    Early Development Network (Birth-3) Program: Early Intervention coordination and program development, instructional leadership and coaching, compliance, communication
    Supervision of identified early intervention staff
    Preschool (3-5) Program: Preschool program coordination and program development, instructional leadership and coaching, compliance, communication, collaboration with elementary principals in the supervision of district early childhood special education programs
    Rule 11 oversight and compliance
    RBEI monitoring, support, oversight
    IEP and IFSP Compliance, Quality, and Facilitation: Staff training and support, district reference and training materials, assist in coordination of internal file reviews
    TS-GOLD Coordinator and Administrator: Implementation and coordination of GOLD programming, data collection, and compliance/reporting
    Assist with personnel and resource allocation for early intervention and preschool programs
    Personal Care Nurses: support and oversight (Preschool)
    Special Projects: Planning Region Team lead, all ECSE/EDN grants
    Other duties as assigned
In collaboration with a Special Education Leadership Team, the Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator will:
    Focus on improving learning for children with disabilities
    Communicate the vision of the district Special Education program
    Assist in the alignment of special education processes across all levels and in accordance with District policies and procedures
    Build capacity and support special education programs district-wide
      Train, observe, and provide feedback to special educators and related service providers (non-evaluative in nature)
      Provide collaborative problem-solving and improvement services to individuals and teams including related service providers, general education teachers, and building administrators
      Inclusion support, conflict resolution, collaboration support, TA training support, scheduling support
      Collect and monitor program data
    Attend MDTs, IFSPs, IEPs
    Facilitate transitions for incoming students: Birth to Age Three to Pre-K, Pre-K to Kindergarten, and new students/families to the District as needed
    Support school improvement processes with a focus on the special education sub-group
    Assist with the hiring of special education staff and teacher assistants as requested
    Assist with personnel and resource allocation for all special education staff
    Assist in the coordination of building assignments for related service providers
    Assist with preparation for district-wide assessments (local, state)
