Mission Lodge, an 86-bed residential program for men and women who are chronically chemically dependent, is seeking a full-time Resident Advocate. This position will provide direct service to men and women who have chronic addiction to drugs or alcohol. They are responsible for monitoring resident activity and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.

Position Summary: The Driver is responsible for transporting Mission Lodge residents.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate resident transportation with the house manager and activities coordinator.
  • Transport residents to Hennepin County Chemical Health five days per week.
  • Transport residents to court, General Assistance, Social Security, MSA and medical appointments.
  • Provide transportation needs as time and resources allow.
  • Be available to provide emergency back-up coverage for the house manager.
  • Maintain Mission Lodge vehicles in good working order by having oil changes, regular tune-ups, and washings scheduled in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all residents in accordance with confidentiality laws.
  • Maintain ethical boundaries and professional conduct in all interactions with residents.
  • Attend all staff meetings, in-service trainings, and quarterly emergency procedure reviews with safety officer.
  • Be sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of residents and act in ways that project fairness and equality.
  • Uphold the policies and procedures of the program and Missions Inc.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Program Director.

Position Qualifications

  • Good working knowledge of chronic chemical dependency, poverty, and homelessness.
  • Uninterrupted sobriety if chemically dependent.
  • Ability to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.
  • Valid MN Driver’s License, completion of the defensive driving course, and insurable driving record.

Other Responsibilities

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Other physical requirements as required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range: Hourly pay starts at $16.55, depending on qualifications & experience.
