The Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors Hospital is looking for a Medical Dosimetrist to provide high quality, cutting edge and compassionate patient-centered care for our radiation oncology patient population. We are extremely team focused and interactive within the department.We are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and utilize the latest ARIA/Eclipse planning software. Our Cancer Center, built in 2017, currently boasts 2 Varian linacs (TrueBeam and Trilogy), a dedicated GE CT simulator, an HDR program, and very active SRS/SBRT programs. We treat hypo-fractionated stereotactic targets throughout the entire body and have grown rapidly to become the 3rd largest stereotactic volume across all HCA radiation oncology clinics. We were the first clinic in Virginia to utilize Varian's HyperArc modality to achieve Single-Isocenter Multiple-Metastasis Radiotherapy to treat up to 20-30 brain mets with a single plan.

The duties and responsibilities of the Certified Medical Dosimetrist include but are not limited to:

  • Applies knowledge and skills in advanced treatment planning techniques, working in association with the Radiation Oncologist, Chief Dosimetrist, Medical Physicists and Radiation Therapists.
  • Provides input about simulation of patients that are scheduled to be CT simulated or are currently being CT simulated to help accurately localize the treatment area under the direction of the radiation oncologist.
  • Works with Therapists, Chief Dosimetrist, Radiation Oncologist, and Medical Physicists to troubleshoot and problem solve clinical setups or other external beam quality issues.
  • Provides supervision, guidance and education in medical dosimetry topics for simulation and treatment therapists and radiation therapy technology students.
  • Responsible for relaying all information pertinent for safe, accurate, and efficient treatment delivery to radiation therapists.

EXPERIENCE

Required - Two years medical dosimetry experience.

Preferred- Two years radiation therapist experience.

EDUCATION

Required - Medical Dosimetrist Board Certified (or Board Eligible within 1 year).

Preferred - Graduate of JCERT accredited program in Medical Dosimetry.

Graduate of JCERT accredited program in Radiation Therapy.
