Overview

Dispatcher is a critical role for supporting the Mississippi Lime Distribution Services (MLDS)/FLCO Trucking. This position will be integral to the daily management of activities at MLDS/FLCO Trucking including dispatching of drivers, customer order intake, equipment selection, and Scalehouse shipment processing in ERP along with documentation to meet customer delivery requirements. This is a dynamic position that will require a high energy individual capable operating in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Logistics, Transportation, or a business-related field is preferred or equivalent work experience in the trucking industry.
  • Previous experience in trucking and operations is required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required, Class A CDL a plus
  • Current knowledge of DOT guidelines is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgement.
  • This position requires someone to be action oriented with excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience preferred but not required.
  • This position will require a high-energy individual dealing with a dynamic operational environment.

Essential Functions

  • Manage equipment logistical operations and perform daily dispatching of trucks for Vicksburg, MS location in a safe, efficient and customer focused manner.
  • Develop knowledge of state and federal regulations relating to the trucking industry and DOT compliance.
  • Expected to stay up to date on current trends and practices of the industry.
  • Develop knowledge and application of company safety rules with an emphasis on Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines.
  • Support administrative activities for MLDS/FLCO Trucking including managing key performance indicators, operations information, customer details and general reports.
  • Provide support and assistance to lead dispatcher, support broader needs across the company’s logistical operations as needed.
  • Accept customer calls for orders needed and enter into ERP system.
  • Coordinate shipments/deliveries with drivers based on seniority, customer demand, driver hours of service, and plant loadout availability.
  • Process shipments in ERP system and generate bill of lading paperwork for drivers on each load which confirms order #, product, weights, and customer delivery window.
  • Maintains directory for all customer locations with GPS directions.
  • Coordinate equipment availability with MLDS/FLCO Trucking shop mechanics.
  • Required to take calls after hours from drivers and work rotating shift schedule.
  • Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.
