About the position:
We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to work as a Substitute Life Skills Trainer in our Palm Bay Adult Day Training program. Our Life Skills Trainers provide training and instruction to adults with disabilities in the areas of production work including community inclusion, job training, vocational skill acquisition, daily living skills, life-enrichment activities and other skills needed to develop independence, work and self-advocacy skills. Program participants perform various service contracts, which enable them to develop natural supports and perform valued social roles. The Life Skills Trainer will ensure that program participants' vocational goals are attained, reported and tracked in accordance with their individual program plans. You may know ahead of time when you are needed, or you may be called at a moment's notice.
The hours for this position will be scheduled between 7:50 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday (on an as-needed basis).
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Experience working with persons with disabilities on job skills training self-advocacy training, or daily living skills training, as well as assisting with personal needs such as monitoring behaviors, toileting, changing, and feeding, is preferred
- Ability to meet our approved driver qualifications in order to drive our vehicles (para transit style vehicle - no CDL required), as required to drive for program related business
