The Opportunity

Bookshare seeks an individual with strong educational leadership experience, an innovative thinker, excellent communicator both orally and written, demonstrated management experience, and a strong background in education equity, inclusion, and Universally Designed Learning opportunities to join our program team. This dynamic and mission-driven group is responsible for increasing utilization of the Benetech tools and services, building capacity of the user ecosystem, and building out the professional services that complement our product and grow opportunities for Benetech

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic – Take a lead role in shaping and informing our long-term strategic planning for US-based Benetech educational programs.
  • Program Utilization – Direct teams to most efficiently and effectively support the utilization of Benetech’s tools and services by our members and partners.
  • Partnerships – Nurture and grow existing relationships with current key schools, libraries, and disability service partners. Ensure retention and continued utilization of Benetech services, and promote strong two-way communication between Benetech and customers throughout the department. Work across internal teams to identify and energize opportunities for added services and deeper partnerships.
  • Communications – Demonstrate leadership in communications using multiple avenues and resources, such as data and customer feedback, to inform and connect Benetech staff and customers.
  • Staff Management and Development – Be a leader in hiring and nurturing outstanding talent and provide effective management for a staff that may include managers and individual contributors.

Qualifications and Core Competencies

  • Required:
    • Advanced degree in education or ten years of experience in educational partnerships, with a strong focus on educational equity, inclusion, and UDL.
    • Solid knowledge of the US educational system at both the federal, state (SEA) and local level (LEA).
    • Strong project and people management skills.
    • Strong professional interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in managing professional relationships with partners or customers.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred:
    • Advanced degree (M.A., Ph.D.) in education, special education, or disability studies.
    • Previous experience managing large federal grants.
    • Knowledge of the assistive technology field with emphasis on tools and technology used to provide access to alternative versions of printed materials.
    • Knowledge of accessibility standards.
    • Experience working with project and budget management and software.

Travel Obligations

Travel for this position may be up to 10-15%
