Job Overview

Provide vision and leadership to our in-store special events team. Balancing creativity with commerce you’ll be responsible for conceptualizing all in-store events. As the Director Special Events Marketing, you’ll drive Public Relations (PR) initiatives for all internal and external special events, promotions and partnerships. As the Director you’ll strategize and prioritize high performance events aligned to company business and marketing objectives. You’ll act as liaison between Central organization and total store’s leadership teams to create event programming to enhance the customer experience and maximize sales opportunities. Aligned with the central vision, the Director Special Events Marketing will ideate and actualize events that create animation, drive traffic and enhance sales.

Essential Functions

  • Strategize and manage all aspects of in-store event concepts. Provide direction and guidance to MSEM on specific planning and execution; leverage internal (Store leadership, Buyers) and external (vendor) partners to execute special events.
  • Execute central core marketing objectives and strategies to roll out creative programs. Lead and coordinate 59th Street in-store events.
  • Develop community relations programs that enhance the Bloomingdale’s brand. Secure sponsorships and cobranding opportunities inclusive of charitable giving, in-kind donations and in-store special events. Partner with central PR to support Bloomingdale’s philanthropic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal Loyalty team and vendor partners to create unique best customer experiences.
  • Collaborate with VP and central media and social media teams on partnerships and outreach to support company initiatives.
  • Partner with central PR to support Bloomingdale’s philanthropic initiatives.
  • Ability to work as a strong leader with peers and store management team.
  • Manage budgets and administrative duties related to events.
  • Ensure events adhere to a return on investment strategy, working with store leadership to ensure events support planned sales.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • 5+ years related experience.
  • Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner. Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
  • Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels.
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically. Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing.
  • Occasionally requires walking, bending, reaching, hearing and talking.
  • Continuous use of computers and other office equipment.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs.
