Director Retail Inventory and Costing Job at Simplot

Summary
The Director of Retail Cost and Inventory will direct and manage the retail costing activities for Simplot Grower Solutions and Turf and Horticulture businesses, covering over 250 locations across the United States and Western Canada. Responsible for the safeguarding of assets by maintaining good internal controls via sound financial systems and qualified costing teams. Provide financial guidance, expertise, and recommendations to Business Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee inventory and cost accounting processes for SGS and T&H retail divisions.
- Oversee assessment, design and monitoring of controls over inventory and cost reporting as well as provide recommendations for improvements to business operations.
- Lead and/or participate in governance and optimization of processes, policies and activities related to inventory and cost of goods sold.
- Continually evaluate, alter and improve the function to respond to changing needs of the organization, new products, new business, individual initiatives and other activities.
- Interview, train, develop and motivate employees to foster their professional development and growth through results-oriented focus, clear communication and direction, delegation and active career development and coaching
- Works closely with business operations, FP&A and auditors.
- Communicates items of particular interest or significance, uses some judgment in determining what would be of interest or importance.
- Specific activities as applicable to customer or stakeholder needs.
- Interacts and communicate with a variety of people on many different levels in person and remotely and manage interpersonal relationships and conflict.
Typical Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
- Master’s degree, CPA license or CMA certification preferred
Relevant Experience
- Minimum 10 years of accounting experience
- Prior leadership experience
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position
- Experience with JDE, Agvance, Power BI, Axiom or SAP preferred
