Job Summary and Qualifications

As Director of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy at Alaska Regional Hospital you will have an impact on our patients’ lives and the opportunity to truly make a difference. Your clinical and leadership background will be put to important use as you join us in our efforts to better our community! In this role:

  • You will be responsible for front-line department management and will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to develop consistent, safe, compassionate standards of care.
  • You will practice effective financial planning and budget management skills to ensure sound financial operations of the department.
  • You will serve as a clinical resource for staff and will coordinate functions with physicians and other departments of the hospital in a spirit that fosters positive working relationships.
  • You will evaluate effectiveness of care for each program within the department and make needed programmatic changes as needed.
  • You will anticipate, recognize, and understand internal and external customer needs and respond to those needs with effective communication and confidentiality.
  • You will work on staffing needs and retention. You will coach and develop staff with a sincere concern for growing people and talent, celebrating employee award recognition moments.
  • You will participate in committees, such as education, quality improvement, policy and procedure formulation, hospital-wide strategic planning, etc.
  • You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends in the rehab therapy service lines and participate in program development and the establishment of new procedures as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy with at least a Bachelor’s degree; in addition, a Master’s Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
  • Must be licensed in the state of Alaska as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Therapist.
  • Certified by the respective national association (APTA, AOTA, ASHA).
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification

  • Minimum 5 years of acute and/or rehabilitation experience is required; in addition, 5 years of progressive managerial experience is preferred.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
