Director of Recruiting

The Director of Recruiting is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing programs to recruit qualified Class A Drivers in order to meet established company objectives and to sustain a minimal turnover rate of existing drivers. The driver advocate will work with internal departments to answer driver questions, driver concerns, and/or resolve issues.

**PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION REPORTS IN-OFFICE, MONDAY-FRIDAY, FROM 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.**

Job Description:

  • Creates a positive hiring and onboarding experience for Driver candidates.
  • Leads the process to ensure candidates understand position, completes application, meets qualifications, and closes position.
  • Acts as the driver advocate toward internal departments to answer driver questions, driver concerns, and/or resolve issues.
  • Works jointly with management personnel to develop and execute individual plans to resolve Driver concerns, ensuring resolution is documented and follow up is completed with Driver.
  • Researches, plans, and organizes new and creative training programs to keep up with, and stay ahead of, industry trends.
  • Assists in a wide array of pre and post orientation driver retention issues.
  • Plans and implement monthly driver meetings by partnering with Transportation Management Team.
  • Creates and manages a driver app to assure drivers are up to speed and connected at all times with the general business and activities.
  • Re-designs the general Driver Facebook page and manage the content and keep it up to date and engaging.
  • Provides weekly reports to the CEO and VP of Operations detailing recruiting efforts.
  • Analyzes the results of exit interviews and make recommendations to the VP of Operations and HR Manager/ VP of Human Resources based on trends.
  • Develops relationships with local driving schools, unemployment offices, and military installations as additional sources of applicants.
  • Reviews and analyze department metrics, including but not limited to, HOS, equipment breakdown, schedule consistency, loading/selection issues to identify drivers that require support.
  • Attends required meetings which may include Driver, Dispatch, and other relevant driving meetings.
  • Works with ad agencies that target drivers and create a steady flow of qualified applicants.
  • Creates and Designs advertisements in trade publications and other print media.
  • Monitors pay stability and overall satisfaction of driver competitive pay.
  • Spearheads special projects to a positive level
  • Manages a team of recruiters and processors at a high level.
Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in a Driver Recruiting capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Creative problem solving skills.
  • Must have thorough understanding of DOT driving requirements.
  • Should possess excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point, outlook)
  • Experience and skilled in employee relations, recruitment, on-boarding
  • Ability to build relationships with drivers based on trust and knowledge.
  • Understand the complexities of driver recruitment and retention.
  • Capable of providing leadership, support and direction to recruitment staff.
  • Knowledge of Human Resource policies, EEOC law and DOT regulations.
  • Skilled in employment policies including selections and placement.
  • Must be well organized and highly detailed with a flexible attitude to be able to manage a variety of functions and maneuver between tasks.
  • Must be a strong communicator in all media forms with the ability to communicate with associates, managers, in group settings, or individually, at all levels of the company.
