Job Summary:

Episcopal Homes has an exciting opportunity for someone to join our campus as the leader of our culinary operations. The key function of this position is to elevate the resident dining experience ensuring the production of high-quality meals across the Episcopal Homes Campus. Direct reports will include the nursing home food service director, restaurant chef manager, catering manager, and oversight of our campus restaurants. Episcopal Homes is the only senior living facility in the state of Minnesota with a full-service pub. This position will set the standard for restaurant operations at our Pub, The Terrace Grill (fine dining) as well as promoting our cafés and catering business. This position is also responsible for consulting with the nursing home food service directors and chef managers to ensure quality, safety and compliance is met for state and federal regulations. Episcopal Homes has the benefit of 7 business units on the same campus in St. Paul giving this position multi-unit oversight with no required travel.

Essential Functions:

  • Sets quality standards for the campus dining experience across the Episcopal Homes Campus.
  • Elevates the experience of our campus dining options.
  • Leads our campus restaurant and pub as highly functioning full-service restaurants.
  • Promotes the campus dining options driving business and interest in campus restaurants.
  • Guides, supports, and coaches the food service directors and chef managers.
  • Trains, develops, and empowers culinary staff.
  • Ensure the department is managed in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Looks to create systems improvement and efficiencies across the Episcopal Homes Campus.
  • Help develop and guide future managers and leaders within the department.
  • Inspire food service managers to develop a sense of ownership of their business units.
  • Offers guidance and assists in maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, QA standards and culinary policy and procedures.
  • Serves as a member of the Episcopal Homes Operational Leadership team.

Required operating skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Food Service Manager Certification or ability to achieve.
  • Previous experience as a Food Service/Culinary Director within senior living.
  • A strong knowledge of Foodservice operations.
  • Good communication skills, able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Practice effective interpersonal skills, good judgment, ability to listen, and exchange information on factual matters and set priorities.
  • Ability to give clear and concise directions.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Maintains professional appearance and conduct.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Regulations.


Preferred operating skills, knowledge and abilities:

  • Multi-site or campus operations experience preferred.
  • Restaurant management experience.

Special Requirements/Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to life at least 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to participate in more physical demands of the job, including: catering, month-end inventory, receiving, etc.
