The L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions (IVS) sector manufacturing engineering team is responsible for providing our manufacturing operations with the vision, technology, and expertise they need through the entire production process. In this role you will lead a team of talented engineers and technicians responsible for providing our manufacturing operations with the vision, technology, and expertise they need through the entire production process, from discovery and design to manufacturing and fulfillment. The Director, Manufacturing Engineerging is also responsible for the teams interaction across functions and the Communication Systems segment, including program management, product engineering & design, manufacturing engineering and operations management.

Job Description:

  • Promote safety through leadership in process safety analysis, ergonomic assessments, and process improvement activities
  • Lead the Mfg Engineering team to meet Rolled Throughput Yield and Hours Per Unit targets through a robust RCCA process, and time-bound action plans to realize improvements
  • Lead factory Manufacturing Engineering Team responsible for design, procurement, implementation, tactical support and continuous improvement of assembly processes and automation.
  • Engagement on product designs / new product introduction including DFMA
  • Achieve new product development launch timing and targets.
  • Manage engineers and technicians driving projects for new product introduction and current product continuous improvement.
  • Drive the development of next-generation manufacturing concepts, and technology roadmap working with segment advanced manufacturing. Including new technology bench-marking, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Expertise in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Support divisional and Operations financial and productivity metrics and improvement goals.
  • Collaboration with Operations in the execution of production commitments.
  • Use lean, manufacturing engineering, automation and digital technologies to design future state manufacturing environments that drives cost leadership, world class quality and customer satisfaction
  • Partner with the Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality & Continuous Improvement (e3) to lead and integrate design and process integrity processes such as xFMEAs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) as a daily way of life – particularly as new products make their way from design to launch

About You:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline with experience in operations, manufacturing and process engineering.
  • 15 + years of diverse manufacturing experience in the manufacture of complex electronics, optics and/or electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience leading the deployment of new manufacturing technologies
  • Demonstrated track record working in cross-functional teams and influencing organizational change
  • Ability and experience developing and building high performing organizations
  • First had experience developing and managing organizational budgets
  • Demonstrated experience / certification in Lean principles; Six Sigma, mistake proofing, etc
  • Highest levels of leadership integrity, openness, compliance and honesty in all business interactions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary
