The Director, Leadership Engagement, Campaign Initiatives, is responsible for creating and implementing, in partnership with Advancement & Community Engagement, President’s Office, and museum staff, the strategies, internal systems, and tools to provide exceptional donor stewardship and engagement opportunities to campaign donors across all four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.

This position will oversee the strategy and engagement plan for members of the Board of Trustees and museum advisory boards as well as campaign leadership including the Co-Chairs and Committee.

Responsibilities also include developing comprehensive stewardship plans for campaign donor groups and projects; oversight of stewardship and cultivation events; creating a variety of printed and digital donor communications; and managing assigned budgets and staff. All activities will be designed to keep donors informed about the impact of their philanthropy, as well as deepen their relationship with the museums and encourage future philanthropic support.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Ten years of experience that demonstrates increasing responsibility, as well as specific experience in project management, constituent communications, and donor relations.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience in non-profits and/or Pittsburgh philanthropy desirable.
  • Experience producing events is highly desirable.
  • Master’s degree desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Exceptional project management skills; ability to create and track budgets.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and develop positive relationships with a diverse group of colleagues, donors, and volunteers.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills; strict attention to detail; commitment to exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to craft, edit, and proofread a variety of printed and digital advancement communications.
  • Extensive knowledge of event management.
  • Must be creative and a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments at once, and work effectively under deadlines and the pressures of a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with Raiser’s Edge and Luminate software a plus.
  • Flexible schedule – early morning, late evening, and weekend hours on occasion.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is primarily sedentary in nature.
  • On occasion, movement for long periods of time and moderate lifting up to 25 lbs. is required for events.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Works with Senior AVP, Campaign Initiatives, to develop and implement personalized engagement plans for museum leaders with a focus on those that are Principal and Leadership Gifts prospects (trustee members, museum advisory board members, Campaign Co-Chairs, Campaign Committee members).
  • Steward trustee members, museum advisory board members, Campaign Co-Chairs, Campaign Committee members.
  • Participate in regular strategy meetings to discuss leadership engagement opportunities and drive activity.
  • Create seamless donor experiences for museum leadership and field requests as appropriate (tours, VIP tickets, etc.).
  • Help prepare and execute Board of Trustee meetings, advisory board meetings, and Campaign Committee meetings and events.
  • Champions the initiatives of CMP and assigned component both internally and externally.
  • Manages a portfolio of a wide variety of stewardship and cultivation events, overseeing all event planning and execution with the support of the Campaign Coordinator.
  • Work with Campaign teams to develop a campaign events strategy, as well as identify opportunities to use events/ other engagement tools in building the campaign donor pipeline.
  • Collaborates with Campaign and Museum teams to develop campaign stewardship and donor recognition standards across CMP.
  • Maintains policies and procedures related to stewardship and donor relations; assumes special projects as requested.
  • Ensures the campaign donor gift acknowledgment process is fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborates with Campaign and Museum teams in the design and execution of stewardship plans for campaign donor groups.
  • Develops comprehensive stewardship plans around museum capital projects, exhibitions, or other philanthropic initiatives in collaboration with Individual Philanthropy, Institutional Partnerships, and Museum Advancement teams.
  • Creates and maintains a menu of donor engagement opportunities that support campaign fundraising objectives and/or connect donors with the programmatic work of the four museums.
  • In collaboration with Prospect Development and Analytics, develops and maintains appropriate tracking mechanisms for measuring, analyzing, and evaluating results and progress as they pertain to stewardship activities and events.
  • Manages assigned budget(s).

The following PA Act 153 clearances, or proof of application of clearances, are required beginning employment and as a condition of continued employment: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check Obtaining the required clearances is completed as part of the new hire process.
