OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the VP, CLO and CHRO, the Director will develop HR strategy, lead all HR operational solutions, and represent the CHRO in leadership engagements as needed. S/he will also manage the team of HRBPs and other HR professionals. S/he must be able to manage team priorities and performance, build strong relationships, coach and influence leadership, exercise good judgment, and work effectively across boundaries. S/he should demonstrate and model how Human Resources partnership can support operational growth and performance by aligning the right solutions, ideas, skills, and people across the organization.

The HR team is part of a multi-disciplinary Department including Legal, Internal Audit, Facilities, Risk Management, Compliance and Administration. Therefore, while you will work closely with the CHRO on departmental strategy and cultural development, this position will afford you the opportunity to be the functional leader of the Human Resources team and the lead Human Resources Business Partner for the Company, while working within a very unique group of business-focused service professionals!

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
This is a position with broad leadership and management responsibility. We are therefore looking for someone with a corresponding broad range of HR experiences, who ideally has spent time working in multiple HR disciplines (employee relations/compliance, talent acquisition, benefits and compensation, training, talent management and workforce planning). A representative list of those responsibilities is below:

Organizational Partnership

  • Build effective relationships with operational leadership to understand their business goals and to proactively identify and implement solutions that align with organizational strategies. Ensure understanding of long-term mission and goals to support the mission through HR initiatives.
  • Lead talent management programs, including performance review programs and training, individual development plans, and succession planning. Provide guidance and coaching to management to help develop a strong performing team, with an emphasis on maintaining a high-performing work environment centered around coaching, counseling, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide guidance to the talent acquisition team, with an emphasis on positive candidate experiences and developing MMNA’s brand as a values-driven employer and an employer of choice, and engage in recruiting for leadership roles.
  • Oversee and guide employee training and development programs to ensure scalability and that team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to meet organizational goals.
  • Work closely with the CHRO to implement strategies, events and programs focused on increasing employee engagement, retention, and employee development and continue to drive cultural change throughout the organization.
  • Partner with business leaders in the development and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Be a champion and ambassador of MMNA’s unique culture and values. Respond to organizational culture surveys feedback and implement responsive initiatives and solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Consult with operations regarding appropriate compensation and benefits to ensure best practices are achieved while focused on balance between business deliverables and talent needs.
  • Maintain and manage the annual labor and benefits budgets; conduct compensation and salary research and benchmarking and make recommendations for increases.
  • Manage the administration of compensation and benefits programs in partnership with the Retirement Committee; participate as a member of the Retirement Committee, negotiate pricing with carriers and brokers, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with industry standards.
  • Manage the Company’s leave programs, ensuring that leave benefits are competitive and consistent with overall benefits philosophies, and compliant with federal, state and local laws.
  • Maintain strong relationship and partnership with Payroll department, developing appropriate cross-functional SOPs and communication channels.
  • Consult on and resolve benefits and retirement issues of moderate complexity. Build strong relationships with external consultants and brokers and develop compensation and benefits strategies.

Employee Relations and Compliance

  • Provide advice and coaching to all levels of the organization, to include leadership and executives, regarding HR policies, programs, and best practices. Engage with and influence leaders and employees to drive complex business/employee problems to resolutions balancing business requirements, employee advocacy and policy compliance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to provide strategic coaching to management of all levels on addressing a variety of people issues while effectively mitigating business and company risk.
  • Manage and lead investigations and provide consultative support to managers in addressing conduct and performance issues and unlawful behavior and/or violations of Company policy in compliance with federal/local law and Company policy from start to finish.
  • In partnership with the Legal team, ensure the Company is compliant with all federal, state, and local labor and employment laws such as Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, etc. Consult on and resolve compliance issues of moderate complexity.
  • Ensure effective application and administration of salaried and hourly policies and appropriate job descriptions.

HR Team Management

  • Identify key performance indicators for the Human Resources team; assess the team’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
  • Manage the activities of HR team members by providing opportunities for growth and development, by fostering an environment of open, honest communications, teamwork, creativity, high involvement, and productivity and efficiency.
  • Inspire the HR team to deliver creative, future focused people initiatives, ensuring the organization has the talent needed to accomplish its goals.


As a member of the Company’s leadership, the person in this role must jump in where needed, performing other duties as assigned or required.

LOCATION OF POSITION
This position is located in the Franklin, TN headquarters of MMNA. The unique nature of this position will require some on-site presence as well as off-site presence for special activities and events. However, the position can be performed from home anywhere from 2-4 days per week depending on whatever is going on that week! Please note that the successful candidate must live in Tennessee (preferably in the Nashville/Franklin area). Unfortunately, we cannot make exceptions. Very occasional travel to other domestic locations will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND "NICE TO HAVES"

Must have 10+ years of exempt-level Human Resources experience, ideally in multiple functions within HR, including talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, HRIS, compliance, etc. In addition:

  • Must have BA/BS in Human Resources, or related degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to achieve results in large organizations in various functional areas of HR.
  • Must have strong understanding of labor & employment laws and have experience with the intersection of legal compliance and HR operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization are required.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in an environment of multiple or conflicting priorities, and function in ambiguity are required.
  • Strong experience working with HRIS is required; experience in WorkDay a major plus.
  • Familiarity with Excel a major plus. The HR Director will need to be able to create and review labor and benefits budgets in Excel, and run deviation analysis.
  • Ability to critically analyze and draw insights from HR data for the purpose of identifying trends, developing HR improvement plans, and supporting the organization to make data-driven decisions required.
  • Ability to create and deliver in-person and online trainings on a variety of HR and Leadership topics a major plus.
  • Sense of humor and passion for your work are absolute requirements in this role!

Salary Range

Salary range for the position is $165,000 to $180,000 depending on experience.
