Director of Emergency Department

Position Accountability

The Director of the Emergency Services Department at El Campo Memorial Hospital will be responsible for the service provided, growth and development of the department, personnel management, and resource allocation in order to ensure consistent high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department.

He/she will accurately identify real/potential problems affecting the service and will implement solutions with follow-through and communication.

He/she will actively participate in service, departmental and hospital-wide committees as assigned, providing ongoing communication to those whom he/she represents.

He/she will advance the patient experience agenda in the Emergency Department in order to provide better customer service at all times.

He/she will coach immediate subordinates providing feedback, constructive criticism of work, and will facilitate individual development plan(s)..He/she will also document their job performance.

He/she will effectively communicate departmental, organization information to staff.

He/she will facilitate evidence-based employee orientation/engagement practices.

He/she will effectively build strong relationships and networks to deliver on organizational and departmental goals.

He/she will be active in patient rounding and will identify and mentor potential future leaders.

He/she will enforce standards of emergency department care and develop processes to measure and ensure consistent compliance.

He/she will develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing emergency services program which assures quality patient care consistent with the hospital’s mission.

He/she will be responsible to monitor the ER department’s compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policy for patient services, and environmental and personnel safety.

He/she will oversee and be responsible for a PI program that consistently monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care in the ER department.

He/she will be responsible for department operational excellence , will ensure that the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.

He/she will follow the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.

He/she will support the recruitment process to secure staffing talent for the ER.

He/she will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Minimum: Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing; Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

· Certifications: Registration with Texas Board of Nursing; BLS; ACLS; PALS; TNCC
