Position Overview:

The Director of Distribution is responsible for managing all staffing, processes, inventories, systems, facilities, and equipment for Growve’s distribution center (called Growve GO). This position will ensure that customer orders are timely and accurately fulfilled and that inventory is accurate and optimized. The Director of Distribution will develop and lead high performance teams to drive continuous process improvement to enhance efficiency and customer service.

Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor, train, develop and motivate all warehouse personnel to develop an efficient highly functioning team and to ensure compliance to company policies, regulations, SOP’s, promote professional growth and continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, delivery, and safety. Improve and manage employee training including job skill, safety, cGMP, and other training.
  • Create a culture of safety and teamwork in the department and ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Monitor forklift certification and safe operating practices.
  • Manage daily warehouse functions including receiving order fulfillment, inventory management, and warehouse organization.
  • Work with Customer Service and Sales to ensure orders are accurately fulfilled while meeting customer shipping deadlines and customer routing guide requirements. Provide order status information as needed (work to automate all order status information). Ensure Shipping can respond to special sales requests in a timely manner. Act as primary point of contact between internal sales teams, marketing teams and operations teams for a seamless order fulfillment process. Coordinate with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to prioritize schedule for shipments as needed.
  • Manage inventory optimization and accuracy for finished goods, packaging, and raw materials. Oversee inventory cycle counting program. Manage inventory ABCD status. Manage inventories to ensure efficient storage and movement at the Pont Of Use (POU). Maintain FEFO and lot control for all finished goods and raw materials. Follow up on lot tracking needs including trans-shipping, mock/real recalls, etc. Recommend and implement process improvements for Inventory Control.
  • Manage company’s Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Utilize company’s Traffic Management System (TMS) to consolidate orders, coordinate level loading, truck scheduling, order tracking and delivery follow up.
  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities to control costs and/or save money. Aid in developing and managing distribution operations budget.
  • Support, participate in, and meet Company and department Objectives, Initiatives, KPI’s and Strategies. Help teams set and attain measurable goals and metrics witch align with company goals and metrics. Coach teams, celebrate successes develop tools, and provide both positive and constructive timely feedback to help teams improve and to enable self-direction.
  • Comply with federal and state regulations.
  • Develop and implement other “best-in-class solutions to continuously improve warehouse operations.
  • Conduct daily analysis, identify potential issues, assess root causes, and resolve problems with inventory picklists, short-dated products, or damaged inventories.
  • Establish a culture of respect, urgency, hard work consistency, and effective communications in the department and within the facility.
  • Assist in researching and completing Corrective and Preventative Actions.
  • Help fulfill orders when needed and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and process improvement skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with an ability to build trust, foster innovation, facilitate change, prioritize, provide direction, and execute with excellence to achieve results and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with teams and vendors/ carriers.
  • Strong foundation in interpersonal communication concepts, specifically, written, oral, presentation, listening, and facilitation skills.
  • Position requires flexibility, careful attention to details, and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in warehouse and inventory control management in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in distribution management.
  • Strong background in managing WMS - experience implementing WMS preferred.
  • ERP systems experience required, MS Office, especially Excel experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience in a food, beverage, or consumer products environment preferred.
  • Experience in implementing and managing TMS preferred.
  • Experience implementing and managing Lean Manufacturing practices preferred.
