The Director of Commercial Leadership & Development is responsible for the design, implementation, and execution of leadership training for Abiomed’s growing commercial team. Working with the Asso. Director of Commercial Excellence and Associate Director of Commercial Sales Training, this role sets the standard for field operations for clinical and commercial leaders at all levels in the organization. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Global Training with alignment to the Commercial Leadership Team.


The main objective of this role is to maintain the culture of Abiomed while inspiring leaders to prepare and motivate themselves to improve their leadership skills before leading others in our mission. Success in this role is seen in the development of others and cultivation of a healthy team culture.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a role model Abiomed’s core principles
  • Develop and execute a continuous commercial leadership development program for all levels of leaders within the organization
  • Support and train new and existing commercial leaders as they grow and develop
  • Develop and execute a training plan for new Regional Directors
  • Routine Field travel to support training needs and development of teams
  • Collaborate with outside resources to provide educational opportunities
  • Assist the marketing teams in message development for the commercial team
  • Oversee the Commercial Leadership Council, establishing mission and goals for the team
  • Field travel up to 50%


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years as a Regional Director at Abiomed and/or other commercial sales roles
  • Integrity Selling “Train the Trainer” Certification preferred
  • Demonstrated alignment with Abiomed culture, servant leader
  • Recognized by Abiomed Commercial Leadership as a being a role model for leadership at Abiomed
  • A passion for execution, process improvement and knowledge transfer
  • Expert on business practices, franchise management and resource utilization
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce.com functionality
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Proficient in Tableau
  • Strong computer and organizational skills
