Position Description

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide direct care and personal support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community setting They ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the people we support.

DSPs positively impact the people we support in a number of ways: taking people to medical appointments, participating in recreational activities, helping people with personal care, and supporting activities of daily living.

Job Responsibilities - Highlights

• Performs personal hygiene tasks as needed (toileting, bathing, etc.)
• Understands and support the rights of the individual and the achievement of personal outcomes
• Serves as a model of appropriate language, dress, and behavior.
• Follows crisis procedures and contacts appropriate staff.
• Communicates individual concerns and assists in the resolution of issues.
• Follows procedures for managing individual funds.
• Successfully completes medication management training and administers medications as specified.

Minimum requirements:

• Equivalent of a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to complete one person transfers is required.
• Valid Pa driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must meet Act 33 and 34 requirements.
