We are seeking a Dietitian/Diabetes Educator to join our Dietitian Services department. This position is Part-Time Core, scheduled 28 hours per week and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package -or- a 13% pay differential in lieu of benefits. Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing assessment, education and self-management training to patients with diabetes in outpatient and inpatient departments. Works collaboratively with providers in diabetes care and treatment modalities. Performs all duties within Scope of Practice, Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional performance for Diabetes Educators (AADE, 2016). Provides clinical nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy that are integrated and compatible with the patient’s medical program goals and objectives. Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy using established standards of care and practice protocols/guidelines; managing resources in a cost effective manner; participating in performance improvement efforts; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.
Qualifications:
    • Education:
      • BS in Dietetics
    • Licensure/Certification:
      • Required: Credentialed as RD with CDR.
      • CDE required.
      • BLS required.
    • Experience:
      • Required:
        • Diabetes Educator Level 2 - CDE/Experienced Clinician- 3-5 years CDE or experience in diabetes clinical/education care
      • Preferred:
        • Diabetes Educator Level 3 - CDE/Expert Clinician- more than 5 years of direct engagement in diabetes as a specialty practice. Ability to provide higher level counseling, medication regimen adjustment, therapeutic problem solving, and recognizing and prioritizing complex data. Make clinical and educational assessments to guide clinical decision making.
    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
      • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
      • Experience with using every day technology tools (e.g, email, Microsoft Office, voicemail, internet/intranet to access, organize and store job-related information.
      • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to patients, public, physicians and interdisciplinary health care team.
      • Able to function independently on assigned patient care units.
      • General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing and spreadsheet software.
