Job Overview
:

The Desktop Support Engineer is the primary contact for internal end user IT support. As a member of the IT team, you will be responsible for prioritizing, resolving, and escalating incoming IT tickets, troubleshooting issues with end user hardware/software, imaging/deploying end user equipment, and managing the user accounts in the centralized systems that support Alogent users.


This is a hands-on position that requires 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Windows, Office, and Active Directory along with experience managing standard Windows or Mac based hardware, peripherals, and networking. Hands-on work with managing DNS, VMWare vSphere, AWS, Azure or other cloud-enabled environments is a definite plus.


This position will be located in our Peachtree Corners, Georgia office supporting Alogent employees in the US and abroad. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
:

  • Monitor new and existing IT trouble tickets and tasks. Prioritize, manage, and complete IT trouble tickets and tasks in a timely manner
  • Provide full-service end user support for Dell and Apple laptops, docking stations, and monitors as well as printers, storage devices, and other peripherals
  • Process, image, and deploy new end user equipment purchases
  • Manage end user networking and VPN connections; troubleshoot networking issues
  • Provision and support Office365 accounts and services
  • Provide support for Microsoft Windows/Server and macOS operating systems
  • Assist end users in use of standard Microsoft software: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Teams and SharePoint
  • Proactively identify issues, create tickets, tasks, and documentation, escalate issues and actively participate in the problem resolution process
  • Proactively seek new information about changing products, markets, procedures, techniques, industry trends, developments, and best practices
  • Maintain a high level of urgency and excellent customer response time

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of technical experience supporting a Microsoft Windows environment
  • Experience with:
    • Microsoft Windows and Windows Server
    • Microsoft Office365 services and applications, including Teams, and SharePoint
    • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DFS
    • VPN support, and basic network troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with virtualization concepts, preferably VMware vCenter/vSphere
  • Exceptional skills in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and solving complex technical problems and providing detailed technical analysis
  • Relevant certifications (A+, Network+, CCENT, MCP, MTA)

Preferred:

  • Some experience or understanding of one or more of the following:
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • Network VLAN configurations and network subnetting
    • Enterprise server equipment – preferably Cisco UCS and IBM blade servers
    • Enterprise storage area networks – preferably IBM and HPE\Nimble SANs
    • Enterprise network devices – preferably Palo Alto firewalls and Dell/EMC switches
    • VMware vCenter/vSphere VM creation, organization, monitoring, and maintenance
    • Linux system administration
    • Administration/provisioning work in cloud technologies (AWS/Google/Azure)
  • Advanced certifications (CCNA, MCSA, VCP)
