Deckhand - Factory Trawler - Bering Sea, Alaska Job at United States Seafoods LLC
Description: United States Seafoods is a factory trawler company that fishes out of Alaska. We are looking for entry level and experienced crew members to work on board commercial factory trawler vessels. We are looking for full-time, long-term employees who are willing to work a rotating schedule throughout the year.
United States Seafoods is currently recruiting for a qualified deckhand to work on one of our factory trawlers. A qualified deckhand should have previous experience working on deck of a commercial fishing vessel, and be skilled in working with and repairing bottom trawls. United States Seafoods fishes from January to November. Total crew size is 50 -70 crewmembers. Key crew work on a rotational schedule with roughly 60 days on/60 days off.
- Setting and haul back of fishing nets and transferring bags to/from catcher vessels
- Maintaining and repairing fishing gear and nets
- Operate cranes and other deck machinery
- Maintain all fishing gear and deck equipment
- Operate skiff
- Load equipment and supplies aboard vessel
- Keep deck gear and storage areas clean and organized
- Maintain all work areas in a safe and seaworthy condition
- Assist in factory as needed
- Compensation is a Crewshare (which is a percentage of the value of the catch)
Requirements:
- Experience as a deckhand on a trawl vessel
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must be available for the full contract period (Approx. up to 90 days)
